19-year-old Heikki Huhtamäki founded Huhtamäki Industries in 1920 in Kokkola, Finland. Since then we have followed his spirit of adventure and together with our customers, we have explored new opportunities around the world.
The 16-year-old Heikki Huhtamäki on his travel adventure in the east, which inspired him to soon start his own confectionery company.
In 1920 Heikki Huhtamäki opened the first factory in a stone barn in Savela, a small village in rural western Finland.
1930's - 1950's
Huhtamaki began as a confectionery factory, expanding into other food products in the 1930s, health care in the 1940s, cosmetics in the 1950s and many other business areas in the decades that followed.
